EDITORIAL: STÜSSY WOMEN SUMMER 18

May 20, 2018

Hey fans,

Yesterday I met with Emilya & Melina to shoot a little editorial for the Stüssy Women Summer 18 range. I think Stüssy did a good job on their women's collection again.

I love that there are so many special designs and unfamiliar materials in this collection. I never wore a knee long skirt before, but Stüssy made me do it. If you try something new it always looks weird at first. When you get used to it you will start to like it more and more. It's always like this when I get a new haircut or try a new outfit combination I wanted to wear for a long time. I promise you, don't be afraid to try some new things - it's worth it.

My favorite piece from this range is this oversized terryclough tee which is the only men's collection piece in this shooting btw. The light purple colour is great and the fabric reminds me of a beach towel for summer holiday. I love that Stüssy used a lot of different materials like cord, jersey or really light weight cotton and mixed it with some bold colours and crazy prints for their summer range.

Although if I really like to wear some tomboyish fits, I'm always happy to see some nice output made for women only. There are still not many streetwear brands out here releasing some fire girls stuff. It's 2018, streetwear is not a boys game anymore (- it has never been).

I mean what's so hard about releasing a men's sneaker in a full sizerun or designing some nice streetwear collections including dresses and skirts? Of course I'm a girl who likes to wear wide leg cargo trousers and big hoodies but I'm not sure if its because I really prefer it or because there is nothing comparable cool for ladies.

To be fair I'm not a fan of this topic because I'm sick of hearing questions like "What is it like to be a girl in the streetwear scene?", "Do you think brands are doing enough stuff for girls?" "Do you only wear boys clothes?". I see so many cool girls on social media doing their own creative things, repping some boys clothes better than any male out here. Also streetwear collectives should stop making some extra pages/groups for girls like "Fashionfuckery" with "fashionfuckeryfemales" or "The Basement" with "Baesment". Why the hell do we need a seperate group? There is no Boysmentapproved or Fashionfuckerymale isn't it? I mean ofc there is a purpose in groups for girls only and I support projects like the Baesment. Don't get me wrong I have so much love for these guys, they are doing amazing and are much more than a streetwear group now.

Stop making feminism in streetwear necessary by just stop talking about it. Do something productive instead. If you see something you like, wear it. That's it. Streetwear is unisex.
